SouthPointe is a community of nearly 300 homesites located on pristine Lake James and nestled in the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in western North Carolina. We are a 90-minute drive to Charlotte, North Carolina and 45 minutes from Asheville, North Carolina. Convenience and charm are offered by our small town, Morganton, with about 18,000 residents.

Lake James lies at the base of the mighty Linville Gorge and is a sprawling 6,812-acre reservoir with more than 150 miles of shoreline. This impressive waterway beckons those with an appetite for outdoor recreation. Go swimming, enjoy a quiet picnic along the lakeshore or take a hike in the awe-inspiring Fonta Flora Trail.

Boat, water ski or fish in the lake's cool mountain waters or take a walk on the wild side and enjoy the beautiful forest wildflowers and abundant wildlife along a variety of scenic park trails.
