Living at SouthPointe

Find Your Home at SouthPointe!

SouthPointe is a community of nearly 300 homesites located on pristine Lake James and nestled in the rolling foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in western North Carolina. The quality of life includes small town friendliness, a true sense of community, a superb climate for year-round activities, an abundance of nearby state and national parks, and the cultural richness available in larger metropolitan areas.

We are a 90-minute drive to Charlotte, North Carolina and 45 minutes from Asheville, North Carolina. Convenience and charm are offered by our small town, Morganton, with about 18,000 residents.

An Active Community at It's Best

Right in our own SouthPointe neighborhood, there is plenty to do. We are an active community where you can participate as much or little as you like. One of the best things about our neighborhood is the friendliness of the residents. We reach out to newcomers, celebrate life’s joys, and support one another. Informal get-togethers include hiking, bicycling, boating, water skiing, water volleyball, water aerobics, bocce ball, social gatherings, card games, book club, quilting, and road rallies.

SouthPointe has more lakefront footage than any other development in Burke County, and we are proud that every home owner has easy access to the lake either by a dock on their waterfront property or by a deeded boat slip at the community docks. Maybe that's why informal boating, jet ski and kayak adventures break out on a daily basis with friends meeting on the lake or one of it's many islands.

Services available in SouthPointe, rare in such a rural community, include city water, city sewer, and fiber-optic internet.

HOA Managed to Build Community & Home Values

Residents manage the community through the SouthPointe Owners Association Board and various committees. Committee volunteers help create or oversee social events, the community clubhouse and pool, landscaping, roadways, technology, and neighborhood watch to name a few. To take care of neighborhood business, we hire a management company that is directed by our elected Board.
